Building the fish project, one step at a time.
The ponds are taking shape on the ground at EcoFarm Uganda, and with every step, we’re building more than just ponds—we’re nurturing hope, creating opportunities, and laying the foundation for a stronger, more sustainable community. See how far we have moved since the site was marked out on 30 August, and what is still needed to finish: perimeter fencing and a solar power system for the pump and supporting equipment.

Fish project: what is left to complete
Work on the ponds is currently underway. These are the remaining items needed to complete it, priced from local supplier quotations.

The site is marked out, the pond is dug and shaped, and shelters are going up beside it. Fencing and solar power are what remain.

Perimeter Fencing
220 concrete poles, 25 rolls of 6 ft chain-link mesh and straining wire to fence the project site.

Solar Power System
Runs the pump and supporting equipment. Option A is a smaller starter system to upgrade later; Option B is a permanent system that needs no upgrade.

The ponds taking shape
Banks are raised by hand and the pond starts to fill.

Shaping the banks and clearing the site
Soil is heaped and levelled, and stumps and debris are cleared away.

Shelters rise and the land is prepared
Walls and roofing go onto the shelter while the neighbouring ground is tilled.

Firming the pond banks ahead of grass planting
The pond banks are being compacted to strengthen and secure them, preparing the slopes for grass planting around the ponds.

A second structure and ongoing earthworks
Work carries on, with a new pole frame going up and soil still being moved.
